HAMBURGER EYES : INSIDE BURGERWORLD

>>> Infos :

Hamburger Eyes: Inside Burgerworld

Edited by: Ray Potes
Photographs by: Ray Potes, David Potes, Jason Roberts Dobrin, Ted Pushinsky, Ryan Furtado, Stefan Simikich, Patrick Griffin, Victor J. Blue, David Uzzardi, Brian David Stevens, Mark Murrmann, Jai Tanju, Michael Jang, Matt Weber, Uri Korn, Bill Daniel, Boogie, lodown

Hilarious yet scary, hardcore yet charming, the Hamburger Eyes crew put out the illest lil’ photography magazine the world has ever seen. Since the first issue of 30 xeroxed pamphlets was printed in 2002, Hamburger Eyes has become an elegant yet underground periodical combining the documentary approach of National Geographic with the hit-’em-hard sensibility of a late-night tagger.

A pictorial history of both the intimate and iconic moments of everyday life, Hamburger Eyes is a travel journal, a personal diary, and a family album. Inspired by the traditions that began with Life magazine and Robert Frank, the magazine revitalizes the sensation of photography as a craft as well as a tool to record and document.

Now, in their first book, Hamburger Eyes: Inside Burgerworld, they put you through the grinder with a selection of photographs by magazine masterminds Ray Potes, David Potes, Stefan Simikich, and Jason Roberts Dobrin, as well as regular contributors Ted Pushinsky, Dave Schubert, Boogie, David Uzzardi, Tobin Yelland, Ryan Furtado, and countless other upstarts. Get ready for photography on the loose.

Ray Potes has been making pictures for the past 20 years. At age 14, he made his first ’zine; today, Potes edits and publishes Hamburger Eyes magazine. Based in San Francisco, Potes is a publisher, producer, filmmaker, and, most of all, a photographer.

Miss Rosen Editions, a division of powerHouse Cultural Entertainment, spotlights contemporary urban culture with titles including Public Access: Ricky Powell Photographs 1985–2005, We B*Girlz by Martha Cooper and Nika Kramer, Pees on Earth by Ellen Jong, Bombshell: The Life and Crimes of Claw Money, It’s All Good by Boogie, Bears by Kent Rogowski, Burgerworld: Inside Hamburger Eyes by Ray Potes, New York State of Mind by Martha Cooper, Do Not Give Way to Evil by Lisa Kahane, Belgrade Belongs to Me by Boogie, TV Party by Glenn O’Brien, and FUN! The True Story of Patti Astor. Publisher Sara Rosen, Publicity Director of powerHouse Books since 2000 and editor of powerHouse Magazine since 2006, also curates exhibitions at powerHouse Arena.

Alpenrose
- a collaborate photo book by Maximilian Haidacher and Magdalena Fischer, both based out of Linz, Austria. Just like Maximillians last book, Hotel Des Alpes, this one does not disappoint. Alpenrose is full of stark, yet epic landscapes with small hints of humanity - all with a refreshingly bright colour palette. Really beautiful.

THE IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT | NEWS

.

To celebrate The Impossible Project’s first anniversary (28th Oct) the team at their factory proudly fired up one of its old machines and began to produce a stream of fresh filmpacks.

The news came shortly after the Project announced that it had been commissioned by Polaroid to develop and produce a limited edition, Polaroid branded, set of instant Films for release in 2010 to co-inside with their relaunch of a range of vintage instant cameras.

It has also been stated that large-scale, worldwide sales of the Impossible Projects new film will surface at the beginning of 2010 with both black & white and colour films making a reappearance throughout the year.

It seems the age old instant film hasn’t quite escaped our grasp just yet and i’m sure we’re all a lot happier for it.

FUEGO FANZINE

Fuego is a biannual fanzine edited by Coke Bartrina and Elena Gallen, an enthusiast and a perfectionist, with doses of both energy and tortuosity. A fresh project with international coverage and especifically run artistic collaborations. This first issue of FUEGO represents our raid into the publishing world and the birth of our liaison. These pages are an ode to rare themes which once awakened our curiosity and that after in-depth working end up sparkling trough these pages.
